Kirkcaldy Orchestra was founded in 1875. From its early beginnings, it has offered musicians from Fife and beyond to experience a variety of music styles, mix with people with similar interests and enjoy social events the society has to offer.Every year, the society strives to produce concerts of excellence around Fife allowing music lovers to see a live orchestra.
Rehearsals take place every Tuesday night at Balwearie High School, Kirkcaldy from 730pm - 930pm.The rehearsals are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere by Graeme Wilson who has been conducting the society since 1977. Graeme provides a wealth of experience to the orchestra. There are varied levels of competency within the orchestra with the age group stretching from 13 to 80 years old. Some have played professionally in the past and still do, others play for fun or simply to improve their playing ability.
